Mavericks make it 2 in a row as they beat Nash and the Suns

In his 1000th game as a Dallas Maverick, Dirk Nowitzki led his squad to a win over their rivals, the Phoenix Suns, with a 98-89 victory at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

This win makes it 2 in a row, the Mavs first of the season, with their record now at 3-4. Nowitzki finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Shooting guard Terry went for 18 points and 5 assists. center Brendan Haywood had 12 rebounds, 5 points and Shawn Marion finished the night with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Lamar Odom had his best game of the season so far with 15 points.

"Our chemistry is getting better," said guard Jason Terry, " the ball movement was great and we did a great job of finding guys out there."

"The formula is going to be different every night," said coach Carlisle. "The bottom line is we need everybody...We have everybody doing their job."

On the other side of things, point guard Steve Nash had 15 points, 12 assists. Suns center Marcin Gortat had 22 points, 10 rebounds and shooting guard Grant Hill finished with 14 points. The Suns record fell to 2-5. You can check out more stats at NBA.com for this game.

The Mavericks are headed to San Antonio for a back-to-back game against their other rivals, the San Antonio Spurs, whose record is 4-2. Games tips-off at 7:30 central.
