Mavs win close game.....

The Mavericks (13-8) defeated the Spurs (12-9) tonight 101-100 in overtime in what was a close game down the stretch.

The Mavericks played three quarters of great basketball, having the lead until the Spurs made a push in the fourth with their second string team consisting of Splitter, Green, Neal, Bonner and Anderson who gave the team the lead with under seven minutes left.

Their bench team scored 40+ points but it wasn't enough as the Mavericks' defense played tight in OT. It was the play of Shawn Marion, who got a steal leading to two missed free throws by Ian Mahinmi.

But at the other end, it was Vince Carter who played tight D on Matt Bonner as he almost turned it over. Green then recovered the ball, heaved it up and it hit the left side of the rim as time expired in OT

Jason Terry carried the team with 34 points, Vince Carter had 21 points, and Shawn Marion had 9 points and 9 rebounds as the Mavericks shot 44% from the floor.

For the Spurs, Gary Neal had 19 points, seven assists and Danny Green had 12 points, as the Spurs shot just under 42%.

The Spurs shot lights out as they went into the fourth quarter from the 3-point range. Gary Neal led that stretch down to the end of regulation. Towards the end of OT, Neal failed to convert an And 1 that would have tied the game.

The Mavericks have to make a quick turn around as they have to fly to Phoenix to play the Suns (7-12)

(Side Notes) Jason Kidd was out this game due to a sprained calf, and Manu Ginobili is recovering from hand surgery.
